IREM® builds connections and advances property management education in Monterrey

IREM is taking an important step toward expanding property management education in Mexico. In early September, IREM partnered with Hello Management in Monterrey to host a real estate technology event and advance plans to bring the ARM® certification to the Mexican market. As IREM’s valued partner in Mexico, Hello Management is translating and localizing IREM’s CID201 course on condominium management for professionals in the region.
As one of Mexico’s leading business and industrial centers, and a major destination for nearshoring, Monterrey offered an ideal setting to discuss the future of real estate and IREM’s potential role in the market.
“Mexico is lacking formal education on property management in general, and considering this city’s landscape is mostly made up of condos, we are confident this course will be invaluable to professionals here,” said Carlos Rousseau, founder and CEO of Hello Management. “I think Monterrey is a good place to start. We are strategically important to the U.S. and are seeing rapid development, especially of condominium virtual builds.”
IREM members Oscar Rodriguez-Aguila, CPM®, of Orange County, California, and Karla Moreno, CPM®, of El Paso, Texas, joined the Monterrey event. Both are originally from Mexico and welcomed IREM’s growing presence there.
“We had a great turnout,” Rodriguez-Aguila said. “Undoubtedly there’s an opportunity here to join forces, collaborate, and share knowledge for the well-being of both the Mexican and U.S. real estate markets, and the property management industry as a whole.”
Leah Misbin, IREM’s senior director of international programs, also traveled to Monterrey to represent IREM headquarters. Misbin joined Rodriguez-Aguila and Morena to tour Hello Management’s facilities and meet with local staff to review ongoing initiatives, including the translation and localization of CID201. They also visited Torre Mun, a high-end residential condominium project managed by Hello Management. The visits offered firsthand insight into both the partnership’s progress and the developments shaping Monterrey’s property market.
The centerpiece of the visit was Hello Management’s industry event, “Constructing the future of real estate: Technology, AI and building management.” As a sponsor, IREM opened the event by introducing attendees to the organization and the planned ARM program. Sessions explored artificial intelligence, operational efficiency, building management innovation, and construction technology, while networking gave attendees opportunities to exchange ideas and learn about professional development pathways through IREM.
The visit also opened the door to potential academic collaboration. Misbin joined Rousseau and Fernanda De Leon of Hello Management to meet with administrators and tour UANL, La Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. “UANL is very dedicated to providing a practical education and getting their students real-life experience and jobs; this is very aligned with IREM,” Misbin said. “I‘m optimistic about exploring ways we can collaborate with the university.”
As IREM expands its global presence, partnerships with organizations such as Hello Management bring the local expertise and relationships needed to advance professional excellence across borders. Moreno, who was born in Monterrey and earned her CPM designation in 2025, captured the promise of the visit: “I am so proud to be part of this, and proud to be here representing IREM. I know this is just the start of great things for IREM and property managers in Mexico.”
