Introducing Ascend35: An IREM pathway for early-career property management professionals

When launching a property management career, the right support at the right time makes all the difference to building skills, earning certifications, and taking the next step toward success in this dynamic profession. It’s the kind of support that guides you through the web of educational resources and certifications, connects you with experienced mentors, and cultivates your network. These are the ingredients that went into crafting IREM’s newest early-career development program, Ascend35.

IREM® invests in the next generation

“With the support of the IREM Foundation, IREM is excited to introduce Ascend35, an early-career recognition and development platform designed for IREM members under 35 at a pivotal stage,” says Charlotte Park, ACoM® and Chair, IREM Next-Gen Advisory Council. “The program provides structured guidance to help participants make meaningful progress toward certification while creating intentional pathways into mentorship and volunteer leadership. Our participants bring energy and a strong commitment to growth, and our mentors offer practical insight, encouragement, and perspective shaped by real-world experience.”

Ten participants will be selected to receive this combination of financial support, guidance, and access to mentorship and leadership opportunities. Together, these elements create a strong foundation for continued growth and long-term success. Ascend35 encourages early-career engagement and supports industry retention, giving participants the opportunity to contribute to IREM’s future while building valuable leadership and professional skills.

Who should apply?

Ascend35 is built for motivated professionals ready to take the next step in their careers. The program is intended for IREM members under 35 who are employed full-time in a real estate management organization and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Employed by an AMO® firm

  • Currently enrolled in an IREM certification course

  • Have completed an IREM certification course

Whether you’re just beginning your certification journey or looking to build on the progress you’ve already made, Ascend35 is designed to meet you where you are, with resources to help you move forward with purpose.

What participants receive

As an Ascend35 participant, you’ll receive both practical support and meaningful recognition.

The 10 selected participants will receive:

  • Financial support applied toward IREM certification coursework

  • Structured guidance and regular touchpoints to help stay on track through the certification process

  • Mentorship opportunities to support career growth and provide real-world perspective

  • A digital Ascend35 badge recognizing their commitment to earning an IREM certification

  • Encouragement to pursue volunteer leadership roles within IREM

  • Social media recognition to highlight their achievement

Together, these elements create an experience that builds confidence, makes IREM certification achievable, encourages connection and motivates career advancement.

More than a program, it’s a launching point

Participants will gain exposure to mentorship, leadership pathways, and a broader network of professionals invested in their success, because when these new members succeed, all IREM members succeed. As IREM continues to shape the future of professional property management, programs like Ascend35 play a critical role in supporting the emerging leaders today to pave the way for the industry of tomorrow.
